2012 Significance Awards Nomination Period..deadline this week

The Lynn Historical Commission is pleased to announce the opening of the nomination period for the 2012 Significance Awards, and is seeking worthy submissions from the Lynn citizens at large.  The Significance Awards honor recipients in the categories of Residential, Commercial/ Non-profit, Public/ Open Space, and to Individuals devoted to historic preservation. The purpose is to raise the awareness of and give appreciation for significant restorations or preservations of historic structures or sites in our city. 

The nomination form is available for download below or a hardcopy maybe obtained through the Mayor Kennedy's office or The Lynn Historical Commission.  The nominations must be submitted on or before April 20th.  The Lynn Historical Commission will deliberate and view the nominations at their meeting in May. The Significance Awards will be announced and presented in a ceremony in Mayor Kennedy's office, during the Lynn Historical Commission's June 5th meeting.

 Last year's inaugural Significance Awards went to the former Lydia Pinkham home on Western Ave., the Gold Fish Pond, and the business adaptive reuse of the former Wyoma Square Library. A special 'Devotion Award' was given to Dr. Millard Bass for his on-going restoration of a home in the Diamond District.
