The Harry Re-cap

Harry Agganis, a basketball, football and baseball phenomenon from Lynn Classical in the 40's, went on to play sports at BU and the Red Sox. The tradition of sportsmanship continues at St. George, with a year to year invitational tournament. Highschool and college teams throughout the state and country, come to Lynn to compete in the Harry Agganis Tournament. This is one of Lynn's hidden treasured events, of the Hellenic community.

The 54th Annual Harry Agganis Memorial Basketball Invitational Tournament
The 54th annual Harry Agganis basketball tournament, sponsored by the St George Greek Orthodox Church of Lynn Mass, took place from April 23rd thru April 26th. The tournament consisted of members in the Hellenic community from high school Boys & Girls division as well as a College division-that included teams from New York (Albany, Kemisis, Bayridge & New Rochelle), Manchester, New Hampshire and many of the local churches of Boston Dioceses.

High School Girls Recap
Champions: St Vasilios (Peabody)
2nd Place: Kimisis NY 

College Division Recap
The College division included teams from St George(Lynn), New Rochelle, NY, St Sophias (Albany, NY) Bayridge, NY; St Vals, Peabody; Watertown, Manchester, N.H. and Hellenic College. 

Champion: St George Lynn
2nd Place: New Rochelle, NY

  1. This looked like a fantastic event for all. Kudos to St.Georges for producing this event. Love the idea of an "all Greek" sport's event.
